John's Pass is the reason experience matters at this end of the island. Current runs hard through the cut, and traffic mixes commercial boats, charters, and rental craft in a narrow space. Blind Pass at the south end shoals and shifts, and the marked channel is the only reliable route through. Between the two inlets the Intracoastal narrows, and idle-speed zones cover the residential canals of Isle of Capri and Paradise Island. Manatee zones apply along much of that shoreline.
