Pontoon Rentals Across Pinellas County

One dock, and the bay does the connecting. The boat lives in its slip at the Gulfport marina.

Pinellas County, Florida

One Dock In Gulfport, Communities All Around It

Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals operates from inside the City of Gulfport Municipal Marina, in Gulfport, Pinellas County. Every trip starts and finishes there. The communities on this page are where our renters drive in from, and the water each one opens onto once the boat is moving.

Boca Ciega Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway tie the whole stretch together, which is why a fifteen minute drive from the beach or a twenty minute drive from downtown lands everyone at the same dock. Gulfport has the shortest drive of any area we serve, and what that day looks like from the slip is laid out under boat rentals in Gulfport.

The Water From Here

Which Way You Point From The Marina

The geography does most of the work. Boca Ciega Bay sits behind the barrier islands and stays protected in almost any wind, so the water between Gulfport and the beaches is calm on most mornings. Turn south from the marina and the run leads toward Shell Key Preserve, the sandbars at Bunces Pass, and Fort De Soto Park. Turn north and the Intracoastal Waterway carries you past Pass-a-Grille, Blind Pass, the Treasure Island canals and eventually John's Pass at the Madeira Beach line.

Drive times to the marina run from about five minutes in Gulfport to roughly thirty from the far end of the beaches, and marina parking is far easier than anything on Gulf Boulevard in season. Boating conditions differ by area, and each area page covers the passes, shoals and idle zones that matter on that stretch.

Self-Drive or Captained

Two Ways To Rent

Whichever community you drive in from, the decision at the dock is the same one: hold the wheel yourself, or hand it to an experienced local.

Hiring a captain means choosing from the captains for hire and paying that captain directly on the day.

The drive to Gulfport is the longest part of the trip for most groups. After that it is a cooler of ice and open water on the protected side of Pinellas County.
